Has Mid-Decade Redistricting Affected Racial Representation?

How the 2025–2026 redistricting cycle reshaped the racial makeup of districts, before and after, region by region.

Click a region below to zoom in on its congressional districts, colored by whichever group, Black, Hispanic, or Asian, holds a majority or plurality there. Use the 2024 / 2026 toggle to see how the 2025–2026 redraw shifted that composition, with only the states that actually redrew their maps will change shape.

Full data: every district has real Census-derived race data in both phases, the "before" map uses CVAP data for all 435 pre-2026 districts, and the "after" map uses real post-redraw figures for all 181 districts across the ten states that redrew their maps. Where this data comes from:
The "before" map uses the Census Bureau's CVAP special tabulation for all 435 pre-2026 districts (census.gov/.../cvap.html), which is the source most redistricting/VRA litigation actually cites. The "after" map uses VAP-based race data for the enacted 2026 districts in the ten redrawn states.
